Kathryn Mahoney—@nineteenfiftyone on Instagram—is an aid worker for the UN Refugee Agency in South Sudan in the Yida refugee camp.
In 2005, the 40-year civil war between north and south Sudan officially ended with the creation of the Republic of South Sudan. But recently, disputes over borders and resources has caused a resurgence of violence, exacerbating an already dire humanitarian situation.
Kathryn has been posting moving photos of her work through Instagram, and sharing them to UNHCR South Sudan’s Facebook page to add a powerful supplement to their storytelling and advocacy.

Damien Hirst’s 20m bronze Verity statue has been installed in Ilfracombe, North Devon. Love him or hate him, the local residents seem to approve.

Good to see men’s dropped-crotch trousers outside the #LFW shows, one of those shapes that keep emerging on the catwalks but take a long time to have an impact at street level. And the fashion-forward feel is nicely offset with a basic V-neck T-shirt and 2-button navy blazer.

The Meadham Kirchhoff spring/summer showing at #lfw was a bordello-themed romp full of 18th century courtesan-styled déshabillé gowns and ribboned corset tops, all mixed in with a touch of Minnie Mouse inspiration.
Like something out of Miss Havisham’s drawing room, there were also floral-painted screens, faded swags and drapes, distressed boudoir chairs, limp floral displays, plaintive birdsong and a dusty wedding cake sitting in a corner. A sight to behold!
